Director’s note
Este projecto surge dum desejo, que ainda não é mais do que uma intenção: a de filmar uma actriz. As expressões duma actriz. O olhar de uma actriz. O rosto, as mãos, a pele de uma actriz. O corpo, sobretudo o corpo duma actriz. É a Maria de Medeiros.
Mais do que uma intenção, há uma realidade. Sou director de fotografia há cerca de 40 anos. Passei a minha vida a filmar e iluminar actores e actrizes, decores, bichos, planos de corte e parvoíces. Sei o que não quero. Tenho pelo Telefilme consideração e respeito, considero as "histórias" eficazmente contadas, como prova de um talento raro.
Mas neste meu projecto gostaria que a história que vamos contar não me condicione a imaginação. Procurarei que ela nos sirva de pretexto à invenção de imagens, de sons, de sentimentos. É no rosto de Maria Adelaide que gostaria de encontrar o receptáculo dos nossos medos, das nossas indignações dos nossos desejos. Mais do que a história que através dela contamos, estará sempre o grão de pele, a luz que a abandona, o desejo que a consome, o corpo que definha, a mão que treme na ternura, o olhar enlouquecido.
